Do you remember one of those old gas pumps which were manually operated? They used to have a long hose.

An expedition of extraterrestrial people were about to attack the earth. Before starting the attack and just to be “polite” the commander sent an emissary ahead of them.

The emissary was bearing an ultimatum or final proposal for the people from the earth, but, by chance, he landed close to one of those old gas pumps, and thinking it was a human being he started his speech:

“ ...and you should think we are many more than you and very powerful, and you should better give up before any fight takes place... and so on.”

Of course he did not receive any answer from the pump and went back to the place in the atmosphere where the expedition’s commander was waiting for him.

“Have you told the humans our conditions?” the commander asked.

“Of course I did” the emissary replied.

“And what did they answer?” the Commander asked again.

“Well, they did not say anything at all” the emissary answered.

“What balls the humans have!” said the Commander.

“Well, I do not really know about balls!” the emissary replied “but what a prick! They turn it around the neck and hang it from one ear!”
